INSIGHTFUL LEARNING THEORY 2023-24 B.ED NOTES
Insightful learning theory is given by a Russian scientist named Kohler by his famous experiment with a Chimpanzee named Sultan.
A. Kohler Experiment
To define insight Kohler, conduct several experiments with a Chimpanzee named Sultan he divided his experiment in four steps.
In his first experiment sultan was placed in a cage and stick was also placed inside the cage and banana was putted just outside the cage outside Sultan’s direct reach. After several attempts he lift the stick and the help of that he get the banana.
In the second stage Kohler put two stick inside the cage which can be joined to make one and banana was placed which can’t be reached with the help of single stick after several attempts of Sultan he able to get the banana by joining the sticks.
In his third step he put the banana on the roof of cage and a box is placed in that cage. After several attempts Sultan put the box stand and get the banana.
In the final stage Kohler put two boxes and banana was placed much higher than before after several try Sultan put one box on another stand and get the banana.
B. Factors affecting insight
Previous knowledge or experience helps in the insightful learning of a problem for example a child can solve problems mathematics if they has previous knowledge.
Insightful learning directly proportional to the intelligence of a child a child with high IQ can solve problem easily in comparison to the child with low IQ.
A good learning environment with various activity can result in good insightful learning.
Can learn through trial and error as it opens the gate for insightful learning. In fact the trial and error is the base for insightful theory.
After getting solution from insightful learning repetition and generalisation is needed.
C. Characteristics of insight
D. Educational Implication
E. Conclusion
So in this session we learn that insightful leaning can help student for enhancing their learning and problem solving skills. It helps in metacognitive development individualised learning, inquiry-based learning, critical thinking development. Implementing it in the class room can leads to the overall development of students.
