Continuous and comprehensive evaluation is a system of school based assessment of students that covers all aspects of student development, it is a process of assessment which emphasizes on two fold objectives. First continuity of evaluation and 2nd assessment of broad based learning and behavior outcomes.
continuous and comprehensive evaluation based on procedure of assessment directed by the right to Education Act of India 2009.
The term continuous means emphasize the valuation of identified aspects of students growth and development. Is a continuous process rather than an event build into the total teaching learning process and spread over the entire span of academic season.
The term comprehensive means the schemes attempt to cover both scholastic and co scholastic aspects of student growth and development since the abilities, attitudes and aptitudes can manifest themselves in forms rather than the written word. the term refered to application of a variety of tools and techniques. It also aims at assessing the learners development in higher order thinking skills such as analyzing, evaluating and creating.
Therefore, CCE is a curriculum initiative attempting to shift initiative from memorizing to holistic learning. It aims at creating individual with sound values appropriate skills and desirable qualities besides academic excellence. It is expected that CCE will equip the learner to meet the challenges of life with confidence and success. It focuses on holistic development which will lead to lifelong learning through school based co-scholastic assessment.

FEATURES OF CONTINUOUS AND COMPREHENSIVE EVALUATION
The continuous aspect of CCE takes care of the continual and periodicity aspect of evaluation.
The comprehensive aspects of CCE takes care of assessment of the all round development of the child personality. It includes assessment of scholastic and co-scholastic activity.
Scholastic aspects include curricular areas or subject specific areas. Whereas co-scholastic aspect include life skills, Co-curricular activities, attitudes and values.
Assessment in scholastic areas is done informally and formally using multiple techniques of evolution continually and periodically. Diagnostic evaluation takes place at the end of unit test or term. Cause of poor performance in some units are diagnosed using diagnostic tests. These are followed up with appropriate interventions and remedy measures.
